This season the trades started earlier than deadline day, which resulted in less major activity this year, as in the past. Let’s break it down…
Here’s a recap of what teams did and the winners…
New York Knicks: O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn
Toronto Raptors: RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick (via Detroit)
Winner: New York! To get a player of Anunoby’s talent, especially on the defensive end, fits in perfectly with the Knicks roster. While he does become a free agent at the end of the year, the Knicks traded for him with the intention of signing him to a long-term contract. Again, the fit with Brunson, Randle and the rest of the roster is great! Adding Achiuwa for additional bench support is also a good move. While the Knicks won the trade, the Raptors did get two very good young players in Barrett and Quickley. Both players, along with Scottie Barnes, are now the core and will propel the rebuild of the young Raptors squad.
Detroit Pistons: Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala
Washington Wizards: Marvin Bagley, Isaiah Livers and a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 second-round pick

Winner: Indiana!
Milwaukee Bucks: Patrick Beverley
Philadelphia 76ers: Cameron Payne and a 2027 second-round pick
Winner: Milwaukee! The Bucks add toughness and some additional defense to the roster. Great option as well for the second unit.
Dallas Mavericks: P.J. Washington
Charlotte Hornets: Grant Williams, Seth Curry and a 2027 first-round pick
Winner: Dallas! Adding a versatile player who will definitely be a great addition to the starting unit.
Toronto Raptors: Spencer Dinwiddie

The Raptors will release Dinwiddie and in the process of trading Schroder move off his contract for next year, which allows them for additional cap space in the offseason.
New York Knicks: Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks
Detroit Pistons: Evan Fournier. Malachi Flynn and Quentin Grimes

Utah Jazz: Otto Porter Jr., Kira Lewis Jr. and a 2024 first-round pick (least favorable of OKC, LAC, HOU (if 5-30) and UTAH (if 11-30)
Winner: Toronto! This is not a deep draft and moving off one of the many picks they have makes sense. By adding Olynyk, he brings veteran leadership to the roster. He will certainly be be the back up Center, however may get spot minutes at the Four (PF), if needed. Agbaji, is another great piece added to this Raptors rebuild. He will certainly be a great addition to the core moving forward. If by chance they don’t resign Trent Jr. he will certainly get minutes at the Two (SG).
